Tory Wanty
2008 Miss Montana USA
A true small town girl, 21 year old Tori Rae Wanty comes from the tight knit community of Shelby, Montana. She is currently attending the University of Montana in Missoula, studying exercise science with an emphasis on human nutrition.
Tori had the opportunity to be on a team of researchers that did and extensive study on diabetes in the American youth of today. She is an active participant in the American Diabetes Association and wants to continue her passion by specializing in diabetes and working with youth to help prevent and treat diabetes.
Flamenco dancing, hiking, boating and attending symphonies are some of the activities Tori enjoys participating in during her spare time. Music has always been a passion, whether it was being involved in dancing, jazz and concert band, or playing the piano.
Family is the most important aspect in Tori’s life. Her family is very small but extremely supportive. Both of her parents are teachers, as well as all of her aunts and uncles. Tori has one younger brother, Trey (18 years old), who has been her best friend growing up. As a family, they enjoy anything that involves friendly competition or teasing each other. There is never a dull moment in the Wanty household.
Tori was honored to represent the great state of Montana at the 2008 MISS USA pageant that was held in Las Vegas, Nevada in April. Some of her favorite events were the “Sock-Off Dance” with Best Buddies, attending Le Reve at the Wynn, and water sliding through a shark tank at the Golden Nugget. But what made the experience so unforgettable was getting the opportunity to meet such wonderful individuals. Tori left Las Vegas with many of new friends and even more opportunities coming her way.
Tori believes that becoming Miss Montana USA has made a positive impact on her life. She has gain even more confidence, made great connections, and is now very involved in community service projects across the state. For Tori, this experience is a dream come true!!!
